Descrizione dell’articolo da parte del venditore

16mo. pp.16/pp.295. A good tight original binding. Vellum spine with title printed in red, rather soiled. Plain papered boards, of a similar colour to the spine, corners rubbed. Original black endpapers, with small yellow booksellers label: "J. Fawn & Son, 18, Queens Road, Bristol." Halt title present. Title in red & black. Decorated headpiece to each section. Giving the roots and history of Anchorites, Coenobites, and the Franciscan order, this little volume also looks at the vows and discipline of the monks, monkish legends, and "the pernicious tendency of Monasticism, viewed in a Moral, Physical, and Scriptural Light." - See Contents page. Clean text throughout. A few page edges chipped, otherwise very good.
