Con complessive 132 tavole f.t. che riproducono in silografia migliaia di monete (vol. I: 85 tav.; vol. II: 5 tav.; vol. III: 16 tav.; vol. IV: 5 tav.; vol. V: 16 tav., compreso ritratto). (Nel vol. primo le tavole 36, 60, 66, 74 e 78, non furono inserite in nessun esemplare). Prima edizione di celebre opera di numismatica, preziosissima fonte di notizie storiche ed economiche. L'opera concepita come integrazione di quella del Muratori, è dedicata al Papa Benedetto XIV. Parte sostanziale del vol. I è dedicata alle monete dei patriarchi d'Aquileia. Nel vol.II è prevalente l'apporto di G.Sitoni sulle monete insubriche; nel III tratta di monete genovesi e piacentine e dei trattati del Montanari e di Gir.Zanetti (sulle veneziane). Il quarto vol. è quello di maggiore spessore, che raccoglie scritti di economia teorica di B.Davanzati e l'importantissimo ''Alitinonfo'' di G.Scaruffi, seguito dalle Note del Pratisuoli. I vol. V e VI sono invece un Appendice, dedicata a Francesco III d'Este, uscita postuma e curata da G. Montanari e C. Casanova. Comprendono per buona parte il trattato sulle monete del Medioevo di V.Bellini e alcuni importanti lavori sul conio delle monete e sulle Zecche. Dotta e poderosa raccolta di testi, prevalentemente in italiano, ma anche in latino, sulla numismatica e metrologia sino al 1750, con ottime tavole di ragguaglio e documenti sulle zecche italiane e milanesi in particolare. Vasto trattato di fondamentale importanza per la numismatica in Italia nei secoli. Bell'esemplare. Cat. della Bibl.
