8vo. 8.75 x 5.75 inches. 80 pp. Bound in original maroon cloth, gilt, in price clipped pictorial dust wrapper, which has lightly sunned edges and small neatly repaired tear on rear wrapper. A few traces of foxing, but otherwise a very good copy. Bookplate. Illustrated by 57 captioned plates, including frontispiece and by three text figures. Well illustrated historical account of naval swords depicting both the weapons themselves (Including cutlasses, dirks, small and presentation swords) and their officer wearers. By Philip Geoffrey Walter Annis (b.1936), who was in charge of the collection of naval edged weapons at the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich. Founded by Patrick Marrin's father George in 1946, Marrin's Bookshop has been based in its current Folkestone location since 1963. Patrick has worked in bookselling since 1970. As well as rare antiquarian books, maps and prints, the stock includes a wide range of literature, library sets, travel, history and illustrated books in all fields. We also offer a bookbinding and restoration service. Visitors to the shop are welcome and we exhibit at UK book fairs.
