We plonked ourselves on the bed, cracked open a couple of bottles and chatted a while. She asked for her money which I gave to her then very, very quickly after that she lay lengthways on the bed and fell asleep!' David Yule regales us with tales of his young life, growing up in Sunderland in the 1950s and the lessons he learned there. He went on to join the Royal Navy at fifteen and a half and made the most of his amazing travels and naval encounters. Labelling himself as harmless, cheeky and sarcastic', he gives a humorous, bluntly honest account of his adventures onboard and off the ships he served on; the fascinating places he visited, the captivating characters he met and the beautiful women he encountered.

After leaving the Royal Navy in 1973 I moved to London as my then girlfriend, whom I was falling for big time, was working just outside London and I could not envisage finding suitable work for me in Sunderland. I've lived in several locations in London, been married and now divorced for years but have two wonderful sons who have their own lives now. I finally ended up in Enfield Town and am still here as I write this book.
