Wooland.Illustrated with twelve plates.An authoritative guide to midwifery, written by the British accoucheur John Tricker Conquest.Looking into the anatomy and physiology of the uterus, natural labour, complex labours, diseases in the puerperal state, diseases of infancy and childhood, and more.This was an influential work when first published in 1820, being translated into many languages, and being much promoted in colonial India.Collated, all plates are present. Bound without the publisher's adverts. In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart, a little rubbed. Minor bumping to the extremities. Spine and joints are a little faded. Lacking the spine label. A small amount of loss to the head of the spine. Loss of leather to the head of the rear board. A few minor marks to the boards. Hinges are starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very lightly age-toned and generally clean with some scattered spots. Prior owner's ink inscription to the head of the title page. Good.
