Hard back binding in stunning fine blue morocco leather covers, gilt radial sun burst designs to the front and rear covers, parallel gilt fillet lines across the spine connecting the sun bursts front and rear, gilt title and author lettering to the spine, top edge gilt with French flag colour silk head bands, large returns of the leather to the paste downs with gilt fleur-de-lys to the eight corners each connected by twin parallel lines and dotted lines, marble paper end papers. 8vo. 8'' x 5¼''. Contains 16-(a), 396 printed pages of text with five tissue-guarded full-page monochrome illustrations. Such is the standard of workmanship we believe this to be privately commissioned or perhaps an exhibition or competition piece. Fine condition book in blue buckram covered drop spine box slip case with marble paper lining and gilt title to the spine. Certainly one of a kind and unlikely to be repeated. Member of the P.B.F.A.
