Referencing the coup of 8 March 1963 which brought the Syrian Regional Branch of the Baath Party to power (a month after the Iraqi Regional Branch took control), this covers foreign relations, democracy, socialism, economic, social and cultural development, and defence and security. This regime, led by Michel Aflaq, Salah al-Din al-Bitar, and Munif al-Razzaz, was itself deposed in a coup by Salah Jadid and Nureddin al-Atassi on 23 Feb 1966.
