[6]. 384 pp., some pages are mis-numbered (pp. 169-173). French text with early 17th century spellings & typography. Old, full, brown calf with a red morocco title label on the spine, gilt-lettered: Questi D'Amour, and with gilt designs, triple-line gilt borders around the covers, gilt inner leather turn-ins; all edges stained red; light green silk bookmarker ribbon bound in; marbled endpapers. The spine ends, cover corners and edges show wear, with leather worn off the cover corners; some pages show slightly trimmed top-edges, small stains, or spots; light worming to the lower margins of p. 241-257, a few small paper repairs (p. 61), tears in pp. 281-282, a few small, marginal pencil marks, small tears, upper corner creasing to pp. 345-346. With the bookplate of Cleveland, Ohio based book collector, William G. Mather (1857-1951), inserted in this copy. Scarce item. Brunet, Volume 4; column/page: 1015, mentions the undated Caillove printing, and one dated 1635. "Autres Questions enigmatiques fort joyeuses", are at pp. 374-378; "Demandes Gentilles et Responces non asiniques, mais subtiles", are at pp. 379-384. This copy contains an earlier French catalogue entry (possibly for this copy), which has been clipped and pasted to the back of the front marbled free endpaper: "Lando (Hortensius). Questions diverses, et responces d'icelles. Divisees en trois livres A scavoir: Questions d'amour, Questions naturelles, Questions morales et politiques. Traduites de tuscan en francois. Rouen, Iacques Caillove, s.d., in-12, veau fauve, fil. dor., dos plat orne (Rel. anc.).
