This was Paul Bayne's reply to Downame's 'A defence of the Sermon preached at the consecration of the Lord Bishop of Bath and Wells'. The author, Paul Baynes, was an English clergyman and Puritan who was an important influence on the following generation of English Calvinists.

The first full book commentary was published in 1643. Leather spine with raised bands and gilt title. Marbled boards. Very good and clean condition apart from a slight knock on one of the corners. Fresh endpapers with a neat quote from Spurgeon, otherwise contents clean, crisp and unmarked. A nice copy! In this commentary on Ephesians, Baynes covers the character of Christ, grace and redemption, doctrines of the church, troubles of the Church at Ephesus, and exhortations of Paul. Each chapter and verse of Ephesians is closely examined, and Baynes offers practical application for the everyday Christian. "The greatest shall find matter to exercise themselves in; the meaner, the matter of sweet comfort and holy instruction; and all confess that he hath brought some light to this scripture." - Richard Sibbes.
