Raey, Raei oder Ray, Johannes de (*1622 Wageningen - 1702 ebenda). Niederländischer Philosoph früher Cartesianer. Studium der Philosophie und Medizin in Utrecht und ab 1643 an der Universität Leiden. Er hatte Kontakt zu Rene Descartes, der ihn "den besten Lehrer seiner Lehren nannte. [] De Raey fühlte, dass die Philosophie vollständig von der Vernunft abhing und von der Sinneswahrnehmung und dem gelehrten Wissen losgelöst war. Zweifel waren die Grundlage wahrer Philosophie. Nach De Raey hatte die Philosophie nichts mit dem täglichen Leben und der Theologie zu tun. Die Bedeutung von De Raey für die Philosophie liegt darin, dass er Descartes' Ideen propagierte, u.a. durch Glätten der Kanten." (Wikipedia).
