Circa 1890s, sized 8 x 10.5 inches, on heavy plate paper, engraved by Samuel Sartain, very sharp, clean, and bright with a few spots of foxing, and tissue guard attached. The subject, born August 16, 1827, at Lancaster, Fairfield County, Ohio, was the son of George Hunter Smith and Amelia Matlock Smith (of Maysville, Kentucky). He married Henrietta Rennick (1833 - 1910), daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Rennick, and worked in the banking and railroad industries. He died in 1892. Very scarce.
