United States Geological Survey geologist and topographer Matthes created his report on the geologic features of Sequoia National Park in the Sierra Nevada mountains as a pictorial guide in three volumes that could serve as a conducted tour of the area. The contents of the three albums are presented here, edited with minimal changes, and published to make Matthes' work available to all. Includes glossary. B&w illustrations and photographs. This is a hardcover book with 136 pages including many photos. The binding is strong with all pages firmly attached. There is a name, date and town written on the top of the first end paper. The pages are otherwise clean with no soiling or tears. The copyright page shows 1950 as the published date. The dust jacket shows some light edgewear and light soiling (No Chips). I have placed the DJ in a fresh mylar jacket and this old book looks and feels great! We always ship in a sturdy cardboard box!
