Those who have never studied the issues raised here, and those who have found previous studies daunting and confusing by their complexity, will find a level-headed and judicious guide. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Empleando, como no puede ser de otro modo, las Cartas de Pablo y los Hechos de los Apóstoles, se ha esforzado en extraer una biografía. Esta sigue a Pablo desde Tarso, ciudad donde vio la luz, hasta su martirio en Roma, a través de la agitada vida del misionero y del polemista. Le acompaña en sus viajes repletos de riesgos, le observa en sus luchas en distintos frentes, sin omitir ninguno de los obstáculos que la incomprensión o la oposición de los cristianos levantaron en su ruta. Algunas cuestiones sometidas a discusión, como el medio originario de Pablo en el seno del judaísmo, y problemas aún no resueltos, como el de las fechas, han sido objeto de un estudio minucioso que ha desembocado en conclusiones originales. De este modo queda esbozado, con un estilo firme y alerta, aunque no exento de matices, uno de los episodios decisivos de la epopeya cristiana en los tiempos de su nacimiento. Simon Légasse, profesor emérito de exégesis del Nuevo Testamento y de lenguas semíticas del Instituto Católico de Toulouse, es autor de varios libros de exégesis y de un gran número de monografías en revistas especializadas.
