Prima edizione
Hard Cover. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Fine. First Edition. Bound in black patterned boards, stamped in gold in photographic dust jacket. This is an "as new" copy of this rather scarce 222 pp. book with hundreds of black and white photos and charts of the RR line. "It is fairly safe to say that the name Sylvan Beach is recognizable only to those who live there or reside nearby. Few outside the area are aware of the town's former glory or that it was once considered the "Coney Island of Central New York." Located northeast of Syracuse on the eastern shore of Oneida Lake, the "Beach" evolved into the summertime destination for crowds of fun-seekers from as far away as Albany, Buffalo, and Scranton. The development and eventual success of Sylvan Beach would never have occurred if it weren't for the New York, Ontario & Western Railway and, to a lesser degree, the Lehigh Valley Railroad. At the height of its popularity, O&W and LV on-line ridership to the Beach was augmented by throngs delivered via connections with the New York Central, the West Shore, and later, the Central's extensive interurban system. It was the perfect business relationship: Sylvan Beach furnished the attractions and the Ontario & Western and the Lehigh supplied the eager public". Size: Obong 4to.
