Soft cover. Condizione: Fine. 1st Edition. narrow octavo, 9 "x 4 ½", (23 x 11 cm), 94 pp. The cover has a dent to the upper corner near the spine. The front cover has a slightly bent corner at the bottom right-hand corner. There is very slight wear to the cover other than those flaws. A great copy for collectors of antique comic…s from the Platinum Age of comics. Original owner. This is a facsimile of a 1907 newspaper comic strip collection. The Outbursts of Everett True ran from 1907 to 1927 and had an overweight curmudgeon main character who took offense at the slightest annoyance. The editor collected only the most timeless of the strips to give readers a feel for what it was like living in early 20th century America. Many of the situations are still valid today. Everett True was an authentic anti-superhero for his time. This book is from a very small publisher located in Vestal NY founded by Harvey Roehl (1924 - 2000). Vestal Press was best known for books on servicing pianos, player pianos and mechanical instruments. This was a one-off book for them and likely published in a very limited edition. According to an article published on-line before he passed away, Roehl wrote that the company "reprinted just about anything that we thought would sell at least 100 copies." This means there were at least 100 copies printed but not many more since the publisher relied mostly on mail-order sales through their catalog.

Hardcover. Condizione: Poor. No Jacket. 96 unnumbered pages; tall octavo (approx. 9 3/4" by 5 1/4"); decorative hardcover binding (cover has drawing of scowling Mr. True smoking a cigar); former owner's name in pencil to front free endpaper; spine cloth worn through at various spots, especially at top and bottom; covers scraped…and very significantly worn; all edges very worn; corners worn to round and splitting; nearly disbound, with contents badly shaken and on verge of becoming completely disbound; pages browned with age and have occasional soiling and brown-spotting; a few leaves have tears and at least one is completely free of the binding; all pages appear present, including title page (copyright on backside), one page introduction, and the cartoons, of which there are 152 frames comprising 94 cartoons (58 two frame cartoons and 36 full page single frame cartoons), with the final panel titled "Finis"; though some of the cartoons have brown smudges, they are all quite legible, clear and mostly presentable; although possibly eligible for rebinding, this is a reference copy only of this rare edition of comic book history. A poor copy.
