Condizione: Good. First Edition. 4to. Soft Covers. Front and back covers show minor signs of wear. Very Good. 89 pp.Both color and black and white plates.Publisher's note: "'The poster is only a means to an end, a means of communication between the dealer and the public, something like telegraphy. The poster plays the part of a telegraph official: he does not initiate news, he merely dispenses it. No one asks him for his opinion. He is only required to bring about a clear, good, and exact connection.' This statement defining the art of the poster was made in 1933 by A. M. Cassandre, a French artist generally considered to be the greatest in his field during the 1920s and 1930s. This handsome book for the first time publishes 60 of his posters in color together with an essay on Cassandre's life, career, and style and a virtually definitive listing of 117 posters."Provenance: From the library of Pasquale Iannetti. …
