Richly illustrated throughout with many black-and-white photographs, in-text illustrations, and full-page colour plates attributed to A.J. Casson (1898-1992), noted Canadian artist and a member of the Group of Seven. An exceedingly scarce offering of the French-language equivalent of one of the most notable Canadian cookery titles of the last century: The Purity Cook Book as translated into French by Mdme. Rose C. Lacroix ('directrice de "Les écoles ménagères provinciales"' and 'auteur d'un recueil de recettes intitulé "Le menu dujour"). Comprises of a rich selection of recipes with sections devoted to Yeast Breads and Rolls; Quick Breads; Cakes; Cookies and Squares; Pastry and Pies; Desserts; Appetizers; Soups; Main Dishes; Cheese and Eggs; Poultry; Fish; Meats; Deep Fat Frying; Vegetables; Savoury Dishes; Salads and Salad Dressings; Sandwiches; Cooking for a Crowd; Homemade Candies; Home Freezing; Preserved Foods; Beverages, and much more. Remarkably retains all six of the original coupons on the last page (p.209).
