The effort was done because of advances in the understanding of the language from recent scholarship. The publishing of the work was done one volume at a time, with volume I published in 1968 and volume VIII in 1982. All l have red covers w/black titling and the seal of Oxford. The covers are very sturdy and tear resistant, perhaps made of hemp or flax fiber, minimal wear w/sunned spines; Strong bindings; All w/clean texts.
