No distortion from reading or improper shelving (the book will stand upright on its own). Pages are tight clean with no marks. An engraved portrait of Ja…ckson as the frontispiece facing the title page. There is foxing here and there. And the first 100 pages or so show the narrow tide line of a water stain at the extreme fore-edge of those pages. No name of previous owner. No musty odor. No sun fading, although it is difficult to read the spine title. This book was published in New York from Advance Sheets of the Richmond Edition. It would be fascinating to know how the Richmond sheets got to New York under wartime conditions.
