Based on the findings of his analysis, he comes to the conclusion that no system practiced in a crude manner is perfect and that it is necessary to agree on a consensus based on the best practices without wanting to restrict the freedom of application. Après avoir étudié les différents systèmes pratiqués dans les 'démocraties avancées' et ceux pratiqués en Afrique de l'Ouest plus particulièrement où la démocratie se construit le plus souvent dans la douleur, l'auteur essaye de faire des comparaisons à partir des différentes pratiques. A partir des constats auxquels son analyse a abouti, il arrive à la conclusion qu'aucun système pratiqué de manière brute ne soit parfait et qu'il faille s'accorder sur des consensus à partir des meilleures pratiques sans vouloir restreindre la liberté de candidature.
