Laboratory studies of THMs formation upon chlorination and bromide ion addition at different points of Zai treatment plant were performed. Results showed an increase in THMs concentration upon increasing contact time and chlorine dose. TTHM in the effluent water from Zai treatment plant ranged from 22 ppb to 63 ppb; these values may be attributed to the low contact time and chlorine dose. Water samples taken from Jabal Amman gave TTHM in the range of 86 ppb to 181 ppb; these high values are due to long contact times, and rising temperatures.Predicted TTHM concentrations were compared to actual TTHM concentrations measured during the sampling program. Results showed that there is good agreement between measured and calculated TTHM concentrations, which means that the method presented in this book, can be used to obtain good estimates of TTHM concentrations throughout networks. 88 pp. Englisch.

This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -The early diagnosis of biomarker is crucial for patient survival and successful prognosis of the disease, and for this reason sensitive and specific methods are required for early cancer diagnosis. However, common techniques for separation and concentrating biomarker are not optimal from the viewpoints of sensitivity and selectivity because analyzing these biomarkers from a small amount of serum is difficult due to the complexity of the sample and low levels of these biomarkers. Peptide imprinted polymers were developed for detection of progastrin releasing peptide (ProGRP); a low abundant blood based biomarker for small cell lung cancer. Peptide imprinted polymers with the best affinity characteristics were first identified from a 96-polymer combinatorial libraries. The effects of monomers, crosslinker, porogen, and template on adsorption capacity and selectivity for nonapeptide sequence NLLGLIEAK resulting from tryptic digestion were investigated and optimized. Ultimately, a solid phase extraction method was developed for highly selective enrichment of the target peptide from tryptic digests. 168 pp. Englisch.
