This is the first issue of what was to become Canada's premier arts magazine "Canadian Art" . These early issues had original art by various artists of the day. The f…irst 6 issue were done with the text in mimeographed text, black and white illustrations on glossy paper and the original on heavy bound paper. All the 15 issue of Maritime Art are very had to find. Henry George Glyde RCA (June 18, 1906 March 31, 1998) was an English-born Canadian painter, draftsperson and art educator. Born in Luton, England, Glyde attended the Royal College of Art in London, England (19261930) was a student instructor at the school (1929-1930), then was an art instructor at other schools. He came to Canada in 1935 to teach drawing in Calgary at the Provincial Institute of Technology and Art and in 1936 became head of the art department. From then on, he explored western Canada as a painting subject. He was also head of the painting division of the Banff School of Fine Arts (19371966) where he met A.Y. Jackson and, in 1943, the two artists went north, with a commission from the National Gallery to create studies of the Alaska Highway. In 1937, he began teaching community art classes with the Department of Extension, University of Alberta, where he went on to establish the Department of Fine Art. He taught there between 1946 and 1966. Covers are slightly soiled and the tipped in linocut by Henry G. Glyde has a light crfease to the left margin just touching the image.

All the 15 issue of Maritime Art are very had to find. Christian McKiel (September 27, 1889 December 12, 1978) was a Canadian artist and educator. The daughter of Emma Ives Harris and Joseph Simpson Harris, county sheriff, and sister of Margaret Harris, she was born Christian Harris in Pictou, Nova Scotia.[ She received a teaching diploma in drawing and a Drawing Certificate from the Ladies' College at Mount Allison University in 1911. From 1911 to 1912, McKiel pursued further studies at the Art Students League of New York. She returned to Sackville in 1913 to teach in the fine arts department at Mount Allison University after the resignation of Sarah (Stewart) Hart. She was an integral in the development of the craft program at the university. During her three decades teaching at Mount Allison University, she conducted classes in drawing, pottery, china painting and general painting. The edges of the cover are slightly browned otherwise very good.

All the 15 issue of Maritime Art are very had to find. Edwin Headley Holgate RCA (August 19, 1892 May 21, 1977), was a Canadian painter, muralist, and printmaker. Holgate played a major role in Montreal's art community, and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, where he both studied and taught. He was known primarily as a portraitist and for his treatment of the female nude in an outdoor setting in a series of paintings and prints during the 1930s. Decorative card covers (magazine format).

Previous owner's name in on the front cover, interior is in very good condition.
