Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -As education is of paramount importance to the overall development of any nation, it has found that the task of providing education to all who need it is an exceptional one. Since education costs money, many people in developing countries are unable to acquire quality education. In Ethiopia for example, the responsibility of providing education has for long been dominated by governments. In a situation where it has become very clear that government is unable to sustain continuous provision of adequate and high quality education, there can be no better option than to open the floodgate to private individuals and organizations in order to complement government efforts in education provision. The primary aim of this book is to identify the challenges that private higher education institutions (PHEIs) face to provide quality education. The study uses qualitative and quantitative methods incorporating a case study approach. PHEIs from Ethiopia are used as a case study. This study finds that lack of clear quality standards, government incentives, skilled human capital, books, technology, fund, and other facilities are major factors that prevent PHEIs from proving quality education. 80 pp. Englisch.…

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Ethiopia has conducted several poverty reduction and growth programs. It implemented sound macroeconomic policies and significant structural reforms and privatized many public enterprises. Enterprises such as electric power, water supply, and transportation and tel-communication, are still owned by the government. These enterprises are responsible for generating a significant share of gross national product for the countries' economic growth. However, analysis of the results of these enterprises shows that some are performing relatively well while others are decreasing in their performance. The research described in this paper shows that this is caused by the fact that many of the public enterprises are not enough performance oriented. It is also shows that those that are, perform better than are not. Furthermore, the research shows that the public enterprises are seriously interested in using the Balanced Scorecard. However, use of the scorecard will bring about considerable changes, and it is therefore essential to make sure the organizations are ready to this. The pre-conditions for a successful implementation have been identified in this paper. 84 pp. Englisch.…

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -It is estimated that about 10.8 million children die each year. Six countries (China, Congo, Ethiopia, India, Nigeria, and Pakistan) account for 50% of worldwide deaths in children under age of 5 years (Black RE, et al 2003; 226 34). According to Ethiopian Central Statistics Agency, Ethiopian has one of the highest mortality rates in the world among infants and children less than 5 years old (CSA, 2000). The problem that guided this study is that infant and child mortality and morbidity disparities continue to be observed in the areas of improved expansion of the provision of health care services as well as in areas of where poor provision of health care services exist. The key findings of this study points out that factors such as poverty, health care system, diseases, maternal care and family care are the most influential factors that have been responsible observed infant and child under age five years mortality rates disparities between the two regions of Ethiopia in 2005/2006. Factors such as education and access to information seem to be less significant in explaining the observed infant and child mortality rates disparities between the two regions. 60 pp. Englisch.…
