Aggiungi al carrelloFirst Edition. Sixteen Fine Hand-Colored Lithograph Plates Many with Several Scenes ADAM, Albert, illustrator. Scènes Comiques d'après Nature. [Plates lithographed by Godard]. Paris: Hautecoeur Frères, 1860. Oblong octavo (6 5/16 x 10 inches; 161 x 253 mm.). Hand colored lithographed title-page and sixteen highly amusing hand-co…lored lithograph plates, many with several images on the page. Publisher's pictorial green boards, neatly rebacked to style. Neat ink inscription dated 1860 on front free endpaper. An excellent example of a highly amusing caricature album with a definite equestrian theme. This work appears to have been issued in parts, the present example representing a single livraison comprising sixteen plates, as issued in the publisher's original lithographed boards. We have previously handled a larger example containing thirty-two plates, almost certainly formed by the combination of two such parts, as is frequently encountered with mid-nineteenth century caricature albums. Copies in original boards, preserving the integrity of the initial issue, are distinctly uncommon. OCLC & KVK locate no copies in libraries and institutions worldwide. Albert ADAM (1833-1900) was the son of Caricaturist and lithographer Jean Victor Adam (1801-1867) whom he often assisted with his commissions. The Plates: 1. Un Chien emporté (with two other smaller scenes) 2. Culbute à la Marche 3. Désagrément du Macadam (with two other smaller scenes) 4. Le Pot de fer et le Pot de terre (with two other smaller scenes) 5. Une Famille d'Allemands 6. Touché !!! (with three other smaller scenes) 7. Ces Messieurs s'amusent (with five other smaller scenes) 8. C'est celle-là! qui est une betè de premier mérite (with one other smaller scene) 9. Une branche de salut (with three other smaller scenes) 10. Une belle Famille (with four other smaller scenes) 11. Un accident imprévu (with two other smaller scenes) 12. Un Cheval qui a couru à la Marche (with five other smaller scenes) 13. Voiture à l'usage des amateurs de culbutes (with one other smaller scene) 14. Le Dejeuner interrompu 15.
