Edition originale très rare de cette thèse novatrice, basée sur des dissections personnelles, et présidée par Cruveilhier. Leguey expose l'agencement particulier des capsules synovial…es tendineuses de la main, avec leurs replis ou invaginations. Il cherche aussi à montrer pourquoi et comment ses devanciers se sont trompés. Cette monographie fut très remarquée. Michon, dans sa thèse de concours sur les tumeurs synoviales, cite à plusieurs reprises cette "thèse anatomique très remarquable". Kanavel écrit en 1921, dans son ouvrage "Infections of the hands" (p. 106) : "This arrangement, first drawn attention to by Leguey, I believe, is in general true.". Leguey était déjà chirurgien militaire et membre de la Société anatomique de Paris.
