Hardback. Condizione: New. Double Take presents thirty-nine uncannily accurate reconstructions of the great images and moments from history - ranging from the earliest known photograph, through the landmark events of the 20th and 21st century, the icons of popular culture and the art world, to the world's most expensive photograph. These intricately crafted works have been created in miniature by photographers Jojakim Cortis and Adrian Sonderegger. Inspired by the record auction price of $4.3m set by Andreas Gursky's Rhein II in 2011, they set themselves a challenge: could they use model making and lighting skills to reconstruct the Gursky image in their Zürich studio? The photograph they created from a miniaturized diorama of Rhein II was a success. It worked! This one-off challenge became the starting point for a larger personal project by the duo - a whole series of increasingly elaborate and difficult recreations of photographs of pivotal events throughout history. The whole world, and the surface of the moon, were conjured in their studio. Double Take is not just a technical tour de force - it opens up a wider consideration of image making, of the 'slideshow' of famous photographs we each hold in our memory, and of the problem at the heart of the medium: can the photographic image ever be trusted? With a full selection of images showing the making of the reconstructions in the studio, an introduction by Florian Ebner (of the Pompidou Centre), a supporting essay by Christian Caujolle and an in-depth interview with the photographers, Double Take is the perfect volume for all with a love of photography with a twist and a sense of humour.…

Hardback. Condizione: New. 1. At first glance, we see an artist's studio-photographs of the studio of the German-Swiss artist duo Cortis and Sonderegger-that contains all sorts of what seem to be everyday objects. Yet suddenly, large things appear small and little ones quite big, and sometimes the perspective is just not right. Jojakim Cortis and Adrian Sonderegger play a sophisticated game with and about the authenticity of photography. Boundaries between the genuine and the fake get blurred.During the covid pandemic in 2020-21, Cortis and Sonderegger built a detailed model of their own studio near Zurich with much of its furnishings, of which they took countless photographs. These images are confusing, turn our viewing habits upside down, and invite to take a closer look. The artists' play with model and reality becomes visible on various levels: the view from the model's window shows the real studio space; proportions look weirdly distorted; and occasionally, Cortis and Sonderegger themselves appear as protagonists. In today's world, with myriads of images produced every day, Cortis and Sonderegger's Studio series constitutes a counterpoint to latest developments in of photography and AI-based image generation. Text in English and German.…

Buch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware - At first glance, the images appear to show an artists' studio, that of German-Swiss artist duo Cortis & Sonderegger, with its clutter of everyday objects. Yet, suddenly, perspective shifts-large things appear small, and small ones appear impossibly big. In Studio, Jojakim Cortis and Adrian Sonderegger play a sophisticated game with and about the authenticity of photography. Boundaries between the genuine and the fake become blurred. In today's world, with myriad images produced every day, Cortis & Sonderegger's Studio series constitutes a counterpoint to the latest developments in photography and artificial intelligence-based image generation. A brief text by the Catalan conceptual artist, photographer, writer, educator, and curator Joan Fontcuberta rounds off this intriguing volume. 106 pp. Englisch, Deutsch. …

Z : 24,0 × 32,0 cm, 192 Seiten, 525 Abbildungen, 448 in Farbe, Fadenheftung ohne Abdeckung, - Das Projekt "dieKlasse Magazin" wurde 2002 von Studierenden des Fachbereichs Fotografie der Zürcher Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst initiiert.
