Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book presents the research of two international collaborations between the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and Institut fur Angewandte Physik in Bonn, Germany, over twenty years. The research revolves around developing and deploying sub-Doppler frequency mea…surement techniques to study and analyze carbonyl sulfide (OCS). The authors explain that these techniques were used to study OCS transitions that overlapped with CO laser transitions, or almost overlapped after being shifted by an acousto-optic modulator. Polarization-selective optical heterodyne techniques were used to observe features and then provide the discriminant for locking the overtone laser to the OCS transitions. A CO2 laser synthesizer was also employed for the frequency measurements. The result of these efforts produced new frequencies for OCS transitions at 87 117 MHz, 87 222 MHz, and 87 010 MHz, and provided higher accuracy than previous measurements. It also led to the creation of new frequency calibration tables. The book's significance lies in its contributions to the calibration and accuracy of molecular line frequencies in the mid-infrared spectral region, notably in the THz frequency range. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
