Aggiungi al carrello4to. 8.75 x 10 in. [4 leaves (unnumbered).], on thick black gray board, leporello accordion-style binding. With 4 die-cut colour illustrated calendar tops mounted on thick board sized 8.5 x 6.25 in., scalloped upper fore-edge, embedded glass & red mercury thermometer mounted on verso, w/ sample 1943 calendar tablet suspended on blue silk ribbon, black & gilt Art Deco lettered stapled cover (minor edgewear, slight sunning to fore-edges, slight creasing to corners), still a VG copy. First edition of this very uncommon salesman sample catalogue for the ever popular thermometer advertising calendars which were very successful marketing devices from the 1890's until the Post-War 20th-Century. Typically they were designed as these four with a die-cut hole, and enabled farmers, butchers, bakers, schoolhouses, and others to continually monitor the current temperature, as well as the date. All four of these feature the particular style No. of "H.D.C." as well as the picture title, and printing where the client's advertising information could be placed within the image. Of special interest is the 80th Anniversary image of "Lincoln at Gettysburg" delivering his famous address in 1863 following the historic Civil War battle, with thermometer embedded at the left corner. No copies in Worldcat of this catalogue (1 example of the Gettysburg - Lincoln Memorial Univ. Library); See Michael Perlman, The Forgotten Art of Advertising Thermometers, Queens Ledger (Sept. 29, 2022).…
