Both published by Leconte, the first in 7 parts and the second in 12 parts, all of 6 plates each, and often bound together. ClaudeAimé Chenavard was one of the most prominent of French designers between the 1820s and 1840s. His firm won gold medals at the Paris industrial exhibitions of 1819, 1820 and 1823. As well as schemes for complete interiors in Egyptian, Chinese or Turkish styles, there are illustrations of specific pieces of furniture and of furnishings for named clients. The designs were principally for objects made in the workshop of Chenavard's brother Henri, but they also include a design carried out at the Manufacture Royale de Sevres where Chenavard was a consulting designer. The first is a very early example of a French trade catalogue with decorations and interiors in Egyptian, Chinese and Turkish styles, many of the objects being produced in the family workshop of his brother, Henri. The second is an album of decorations, ornaments and interior design styles. Containing designs of furniture, vases, stained-glass windows, carpets, front panels, and motifs in Gothic, Chinese, Persian and Arabic styles, some taken from the famous Persian historian and physician Rashid al-Din Tabib al-Hamdani.
