Islamische und deutsche Identität sehen sie nicht als Widerspruch. Dennoch fehlt es ihnen noch vielfach an Zugang zu Strukturen und Ressourcen der Mehrheitsgesellschaft. Was ermöglicht, was behindert die Zusammenarbeit von islamischen Vereinigungen, Kirchen und Kommunen? Welche neuen Prozesse können in den Bereichen Bildung, Soziales und interreligiöser Dialog angestoßen werden? Mit welchen islamischen Vereinigungen können Kirchen und Kommunen kooperieren? Das in dieser Form bislang einmalige Forschungsprojekt "Gesellschaft gemeinsam gestalten - Islamische Vereinigungen als Partner in Baden-Württemberg" wurde von der Akademie des Diözese Rottenburg-Stuttgart mit Förderung der Robert Bosch Stiftung von Februar 2006 bis März 2008 durchgeführt. Erstmals wurden in Baden-Württemberg Dialoge zwischen islamischen Vereinigungen, Kommunen und Kirchen ausfindig gemacht und wissenschaftlich ausgewertet. Auf der Basis schriftlicher und mündlicher Befragungen ist so ein breites Panorama des Dialogs entstanden. Eine Fülle von Interview-Zitaten muslimischer wie nicht-muslimischer Akteure gibt Einblick in Befindlichkeiten, Möglichkeiten und Grenzen des Dialogs.
