Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Oribcing Women¿s Savings and Credit Society Limited is rural community based, members owned and demand driven Micro-Finance Institution with Head Quarters in Lira municipality serving the districts of Lira, Apac, Amolatar and Oyam district. It was founded Village Savings and Credit Institution (VSCI) in 1999 promoted by Mid-North Private Sector Development Company Limited on the concept of village banking model to provide financial services to active poor members. The study tries to determine the impact of Micro-finance loans on poverty eradication to rural poor community in Uganda. It focuses on access, utilization and pay-back mode of the loan. The loan was found to be easily accessible because it is based on 25% savings; it¿s great in expanding businesses and improving living standards of poor people. However, interest rate seems unfavorable and some members would direct the loans not for the right purpose for which they have acquired. The study recommended more training for the borrowers and Credit officers and monitoring utilizing funds and performance of business. The government should put a limit on interest rate policy beyond which all registered MFIs should not exceed. 56 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Lira District implemented the policy of Universal Primary Education (UPE) after it was adopted by the government of Uganda in 1997 in line with presidential manifesto. It was set to enable all school-going age children attend free primary education. The broad policy framework was to empower and liberate citizens from illiteracy though basic education. Despite high enrolment rate (UNESCO, 2000; MOES, 2005), schools especially in rural areas registered high dropout rates due to school related problems such as poor learning environment and household level factors. The study addresses the issue of rate and causes of UPE dropouts while focusing on relevance of UPE curriculum in meeting the needs of school dropouts and how stakeholders should handle this problem. The research was conducted using mixed-method approach and multiple participants; combining documentary analysis and interview. The findings show that parents and community should play the role in furthering UPE which needs revitalizing. Finally, there should be an intervention by Ministry in revisiting budgetary allocation in order to upscale provision of teaching, learning facilities and feeding programme.

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - This report presents quality of Universal Primary Education (UPE) Policy in Northern Uganda. It covers the districts of Adjumani, Amolatar, Amuru, Apac, Dokolo, Gulu, Gulu Municipality, Kitgum, Lira, Lira Municipality, Oyam and Pader, between November and December 2007. Its written based on Education Policy Planning Framework of Haddad and Demsky 1995 and Education For All (EFA) by Little 2008. It draws on findings of policy implementation of UPE by stakeholders. Key partners in implementation of the UPE policy included Ministry of Education and Sports, Political Leaders, District Leaders and school management committees. It further looks at policy impact assessment of UPE in order to identify areas which have been a major constraint on the achievements in education quality such inadequate classrooms, furniture and teaching learning aids. Finally, looking at policy implications and recommendations, the report therefore, proposes urgent need to mobilise additional resources and increase physical facilities like text books, classrooms, reform of teacher training programs to desist from content-driven and teacher-centred tutoring at the colleges and participation of stakeholders.
