This very limited octavo volume has been elaborately bound in full green leather with a red, tan & purple inlaid leather decoration to the front & rear covers, and embellished with gold ornamentation and lettering. The endpapers are also full leather with color inlays and gold embellishments. The handsewn headbands are red, green & white and the two green & white bookmarks are of the same material. The frontispiece is a photogravure portrait by de Maricot of de Kock at 30 years of age. The book is illustrated by four artists, as follows: -Charles H. White: one original full-page pen & ink drawing; two photogravures, both in two states with one each signed by the artist; and an original etching in two states, one signed by the artist. -W. J. Sinnott: two original pen & ink drawings in text. -Albert de Ford Pitney: two photogravures, each in two states with one of each signed by the artist. -Louis Meynelle: two pen & ink drawings in text. In addition, all decorations and capitals at the beginnings of the chapters are hand-colored.
