Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. 1st Edition. First edition of this uncommon 1941 Christian devotional and spiritual reflection by Albert Ludlow Kramer, published by the small New York religious publisher The Leighton Press. Bound in the publisher's original light green cloth with black lett…ering on the front board and spine. An exceptionally clean, well-preserved copy retaining what appears to be its original publisher-issued dust jacket. The book discusses Christian faith, salvation, the search for God, practical holiness, and the relationship between material wealth and genuine spiritual fulfillment. Rather than functioning as a conventional theological treatise, it is written as a deeply personal meditation on the Christian life. One particularly interesting feature is the acknowledgment page naming numerous prominent Protestant ministers, pastors, evangelists, and church leaders who reviewed the manuscript before publication, reflecting the author's connections within mid-twentieth-century American evangelical circles. Dust Jacket A particularly unusual survival. Unlike most commercial dust jackets of the period, this jacket contains almost no promotional material. Features include: plain cream paper minimalist typography title and author only publisher imprint no artwork no publisher advertising no author biography no review excerpts spine printed with "Price One Dollar" This understated design is characteristic of certain small religious presses that distributed books directly through churches, ministries, conferences, and religious organizations rather than traditional bookstores. Original jackets of this style were frequently discarded, making surviving examples considerably less common than the books themselves. Condition Book Very Good+. Binding remains tight and square. Light green cloth exceptionally clean with only minor handling wear. Lettering remains sharp. Pages are clean throughout. No ownership signatures. No bookplates. No library markings. No writing noted. Only minor age toning consistent with publication date. Dust Jacket Very Good. Original unclipped jacket. Small chips at the head of the spine. Minor rubbing. Light overall toning expected with age. No significant tears. No major losses. An unusually attractive surviving example of this fragile minimalist jacket. Historical Context Published in 1941, on the eve of America's entry into World War II, From Millions to Happiness reflects a period when many religious writers questioned whether wealth, success, and material achievement could provide lasting peace. The title itself speaks to a recurring theme in American Protestant literature of the era: that true happiness is found not in financial prosperity but in spiritual transformation and a personal relationship with Christ. The book belongs to the tradition of independently published evangelical works that flourished in the late 1930s and early 1940s, when ministers, evangelists, and lay authors often turned to small presses to reach church audiences directly. Because these editions were usually produced in modest print runs and circulated outside the mainstream trade book market, surviving copies—especially those retaining their original dust jackets—are encountered far less frequently than contemporary trade publications. Collector Notes An uncommon Leighton Press publication in remarkably well-preserved condition. Especially desirable for: collectors of Christian devotional literature evangelical publishing history small-press Americana World War II-era religious books Leighton Press imprints books retaining scarce original dust jackets The exceptionally minimalist original dust jacket is a noteworthy survival and substantially enhances the book's collector appeal.
