Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. In the 19th century, new ideas surrounding the building and usage of governors within steam engines were in development. People like the author of this book were exploring the theoretical and practical concepts of how they worked, and, notably, how they could be improved. The reader will find a complex accounting of governor physics in this book, including the detailed analysis of the centrifugal force exerted by governor weights as they move in a circular path. Moreover, the text includes important findings on topics such as weight leverage, spring tension, and the influence of link weight on governor performance. Importantly, this book also accounts for sources of friction which can impact the performance of a governor and how to best design governors to account for these issues. Also, the book explains how to device governors which account for the inertial forces which will impact their operations, and how best to integrate these impacts into the governor design. In sum, this book provides a thorough examination of the theory behind the operation of governors, demonstrating an important step forward in the study of steam engine technology during the 19th century. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
