Howes (1904-1972), noted collector of Robert Frost, professor and lib…rarian at Allegheny College, PA. First edition, signed & numbered, No. 276 of 550 copies, of this second title in the Meadville Trilogy, largely written by these noted pacifist and Quaker poets during their extended residence in the Allegheny region of Pennsylvania. After acting as conscientious objectors during World War II and living in New York. After the War, Albert (1904-1968) and Helen (1907-1968) moved to Rosemont, PA, founded the Ahab Press, edited Toynbee's War and Civilization, and continued to publish and write anthologies of poetry and verse. Coye (1907-1981) is perhaps best remembered for his 1000s of illustrations for science fiction and fantasy magazines, and the horror anthologies of August Derleth.
