Ce petit texte ne contient que l'introduction et une notice historique du livre premier ( "De l'Origine de Etats généraux du Languedoc") ; une note indique d'ailleurs "cette introduction est à la tête du premier volume qui a déjà paru".À l'époque où il entreprit la publication de son recueil, Jean Albisson (1732-1810) s'était acquis une solide réputation d'avocat et siège au conseil des États du Languedoc. Pendant la Révolution, il occupa différentes fonctions administratives et judiciaires dans l'Hérault.
