Encuadernación de tapa blanda. Condizione: Muy bueno. In-4. #1 Jul 1931 - #288 Jul/Dic 1960. (Complete set). Wrappers. Collaborators : Jorge Luis Borges, Guillermo de Torre, Federico Garcia Lorca, Victoria Ocampo, Rafael Alberti, Amado Alonso, Cordova Iturburu, Nicolas Repetto, Pedro Enriquez Ureña, Juan Mantovani, Anibal Ponce,… Roberto Giusti, Ezequiel Martinez Estrada, Alfredo Palacios, Carlos Vega, Among others. The magazine Courses and Conferences, published in Buenos Aires between July 1931 and December 1960, was the institutional publication of the Colegio Libre de Estudios Superiores (1930-1970), which had an important influence in the Argentine cultural field, arising as a reaction to the anti-reformist policies developed by the Uriburu government, and which was dedicated to the organization of dissertations of a wide variety of themes, tributes and celebrations, music and film cycles. It also carried out some editorial initiatives, of which the most important, without a doubt, was the publication of its magazine, dedicated mainly to transcribing the conferences given there, to disseminate its activities and to publicize other news of cultural interest. The magazine emerged on a monthly basis until, starting in October 1937 (year VI, #7-8), it began to be published in double issues and its frequency became more irregular. From 1941, some triple issues were published (year IX, #10-12) and, towards June 1954, the magazine regularized a quarterly publication. The last three installments were semiannual and, finally, it closed in December 1960 with its #288. Each issue had around a hundred pages that were filled entirely with text, without including other design elements other than the cover and the typography of the name. Sometimes they could include tables, charts or scientific illustrations that accompanied the published dissertations or, when they were tribute issues, a portrait printed on laminated paper. In its pages, a great variety of textual types were displayed: the main body of the magazine was dedicated to the transcriptions of the conferences given at the institution and, occasionally, to the publication of original articles; In addition, bibliographic reviews were usually included (generally of academic texts), notes on the activities of the institution and cultural life (Argentina, but, above all, of the City of Buenos Aires) and, more sporadically, fragments of literary texts and essayistic. The presence and organization of these texts varied throughout the history of the magazine, especially after the arrival of Arturo Frondizi to the editorial direction, who introduced numerous changes in the organization, format and content. In relation to the direction of the magazine, Frondizi's is the only name that is formally recognized: first as secretary accompanied by an editorial committee made up of Roberto Giusti, Luis Reissig and Alejandro Shaw (year 1941); and then as director , without the aforementioned committee, from #145-146 (April 1944) to #241-243 (April-June 1952). Beyond this, reading allows us to recognize the clear influence of other participants: Aníbal Ponce, a founding member of the College, held a central place in the magazine from its creation until his exile in Mexico in 1936, who published a large number of articles and reviews. and he wrote almost all of the opinion and commentary notes on the cultural life of the time in the Harmless Opinions section , many signed with pseudonyms; Roberto Giusti, whose presence was constant from the beginning, even more so after Frondizi left; Although the magazine did not formally designate him as director, he is recognized in that role in a note published in number 272, on the occasion of the celebration of his 50 years in the literary profession.
