Paperback. Condizione: New. Relationships play a crucial role in feminist and queer fictions of the 21st century, whether we think of the connection among the artists and between them and their audience or the interaction of the characters or different modes of writing. The contributors to this volume analyze and map these friendly, amorous, sexual, political and artistic contacts within and around contemporary fictions of Romance cultures. They show how these works question, challenge and rethink circulating concepts of relationships and implement them aesthetically. This volume integrates contributions from feminist, queer and decolonial studies just as sociology of art.…

Soft cover. Condizione: Good. 1st Edition. Paperback, vii + 216 pages + a companion CD-ROM in rear pocket, NOT ex-library. A small portion of text highlighted on 13 pages; text-related notes (in pencil or pen) on 9 pages. Else clean in good shape. -- This monograph provides a comprehensive scientific overview of the behavior of nonaqueous phase liquids (NAPLs) in subsurface environments. It focuses on the fundamental principles governing the transport and fate of these common and persistent groundwater contaminants, which include petroleum hydrocarbons and chlorinated solvents. The work systematically covers multiphase flow physics, the role of capillary forces, and the processes of dissolution, volatilization, and biodegradation. It bridges the gap between theoretical principles and field observations, serving as a foundational text for hydrogeologists, environmental engineers, and researchers involved in the characterization and remediation of contaminated sites. -- Table of Contents: Preface; 1 Introduction; 2 Fundamentals [NAPL Characteristics and behavior of NAPLs in the subsurface; Parameters responsible for NAPL distribution and flow in the subsurfac (Interfacial tension and wettability; Capillary pressure and capillary pressure curves; Relative permeability and relative permeability curves; Darcy's law and governing equations for multiphase flow); NAPL mass transfer and transport (Vapor Pressure and Solubility; Phase Densities; Concentrations; Equilibrium Phase Partitioning; Multiphase Transport Mechanisms)]; 3 Migration and Distribution [Residual and trapped saturations; The role of geological heterogeneity; Interactions with the water table (LNAPL accumulation on water table; DNAPL pooling on vs. penetration of the water table; Smearing of LNAPL due to water table fluctuations); Capillary barbers and channels (NAPL pooling on vs. penetration of low permeable material; Migration of DNAPLs along sloping confining layers; Occurrence of NAPLs in high permeability regions); Small scale NAPL distribution (Unstable Fronts and Fingers; Occurrence of NAPLs in clay or rock fractures)]; 4 Site Characterization and Monitoring [LNAPL observations (Discrepancy between free product levels in monitoring wells and LNAPL specific volume; Correlation of LNAPL well measurements to LNAPL volume); Observations of dissolved NAPL components (NAPL components present in groundwater at lowerthan solubility concentrations and fluctuations in concentrations; Upgradient occurrence of dissolved NAPL components via gas phase transport)]; 5 Remediation [Remediation methodologies; Hydraulic removal of LNAPL (LNAPL trapping as free product migrates towards extraction well; LNAPL trapping in the cone of depression; Decrease in free LNAPL recovery rates as a function of time; Incomplete removal of residual LNAPL with hydraulic methods); Pump and treat; Soil vapor extraction]; Notation; List of Figures; List of Tables; References; Index.…
