With the primary objective of knowing…and studying the past in general, and mainly that of the Dominican nation. It was originally composed of the following members: Adolfo Alejandro Nouel Bobadilla, Américo Lugo Herrera, Federico Henríquez y Carvajal, Manuel Ubaldo Gómez, Cayetano Armando Rodríguez, Manuel de Jesús Troncoso de la Concha, Arturo Logroño Cohén, Max Henríquez Ureña, Emilio Prud'Homme Maduro, Leónidas García Lluberes, Emilio Tejera Bonetti, Alcides García Lluberes and Ramón Emilio Jiménez. Of all of them, Américo Lugo Herrera, Leónidas García Lluberes and Alcides García Lluberes did not accept such designation. Clio director Emilio Rodriguez Demorizi was the Dominican historian who had more published works, a man of letters and laws. In his work he saw the result of an intense and unparalleled work of collecting historical and literary documents of his country, which he disseminated through the national press and specialized magazines in these areas, especially Clío magazine, organ of the Academy Dominican History.
