Zur Endogenisierung einer Finanzierungsstruktur implementiert er einen Trade-Off zwischen den steuerlichen Vorteilen und zusätzlichen Kosten der Fremdfinanzierung. Zudem berücksichtigt er weitere Friktionen in Form von Gewohnheitsbildung und Kapitalanpassungskosten, die die Erzeugung einer in der Empirie beobachtbaren Renditestruktur ermà glichen. In Modellsimulationen für Deutschland und die Vereinigten Staaten arbeitet der Autor neben den Niveaueffekten der Besteuerung auch deren konjunkturelle Effekte heraus. So weist er eine Verstärkung der konjunkturellen Zyklen auf den Gütermärkten durch die Unternehmensbesteuerung nach. Auf dem Arbeitsmarkt entstehen in Abhängigkeit der jeweiligen Steuerart unterschiedliche Effekte. Lediglich die Besteuerung der Gewinnausschüttungen generiert keine zusätzlichen allokativen Verzerrungen. Vor dem Hintergrund der Niveau- und Konjunktureffekte kann für eine stärkere Cashflow-Orientierung der Unternehmensbesteuerung mit einer Finanzierung über die Konsumbesteuerung plädiert werden.
