Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book details the origins, trials, and triumphs of the Catholic Institution for the Deaf and Dumb in the Canadian province of Quebec. Opening its doors in 1848, the school provided refuge and education to the deaf and mute children of the area. Despite financial struggles, the institution perseveres and continues to operate today. This fascinating volume delves into the historical context of deaf education and the challenges faced by these vulnerable individuals and the dedicated people who sought to help them. Through the author's research, readers gain insight into the struggles of a historically marginalized community and the ways society has and continues to address their specific needs. This book is a valuable addition to the study of disability history, education, and the ongoing fight for equality for all.
