An unusual edition of this classic collection with delicate line drawings by Alfred Bestall famous for the Rupert books. It starts with a list of the Twenty Poems which cover all kinds of topics from magic charms to zoo animals. A delight. Stitched binding is a bit loose but intact. Slight foxing, pages tanned. One former owner inscription dated 1931. Covers marked and creased.

There is some writing in pen on page 84 and a few spots and stains and the pages are a little browned but generally otherwise clean and unmarked. No jacket as issued. The comic strips are illustrated in colour, two tone and black and white by Hugh McClelland. There are also a number of stories which are also illustrated in colour, two tone and black and white and in most cases both the writers and the artists are credited. First printing.
