This bound volume covers the academic year in which St. Albans integrated; it was one of the earliest private schools in Washington to do so. His father Alfred Friendly, Sr. (1911-1983) had started in journalism as a reporter with the Washington "Post" in 1939 and became the Post's Managing Editor in 1955; he played a major role in taking the 'Post' from a local paper to a journal of national and international importance. In 1967 he covered the Mideast War for the Post in a series of articles for which he won the Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting in 1968.
