Booklets. Condizione: Good. First Printings. [1868, 1869, 1872] Five booklets (a.k.a. by publisher as "magazines") of The Little Corporal, a wonderful, delightful publication for boys and girls, published monthly in the 19th century. Includes issues November, 1868; April, 1869; August, 1869 (two copies); and November, 1872. It was one of the first of its kind to achieve national readership - children and parents loved the magazine, because it stood for the American way, patriotism, freedom, and good is better than bad. The publisher's slogan: "Fighting Against Wrong, and for the Good and the True and Beautiful." Major writers of the period contributed, including Sarah Chauncey Woolsey (writing as Susan Coolidge). She was best known for her "What Katy Did . . ." books. Depending on the issue, children were introduced to serialized stories, poems, songs, gags, puzzles, science, nature, and other writings. The Little Corporal was published from 1865 to 1875, changing the layout and size of the magazine from 6 by 9 inches to 9.5 by 12 inches in 1869. Copies of The Little Corporal continue to be scarce. Very collectible. Condition: Various chips (mostly at spines), short tears, creases, some separation of covers from spines. Top cover missing from April 1869 issue. Text is clear and easy to read. Overall, Good condition. Note: We are a well-established, well-respected, ethical book dealer in business since 1991. We describe the condition of our books thoroughly and honestly, so you'll know exactly what you will be receiving when you order. We ship promptly.…
