Small octavo (23 cm); publisher's brown printed wrappers; [8],[209]-432,[4]pp. Wrappers generally toned and smudged with some offsetting on front panel. Dust soiled but pages relatively clean. A Very Good, unopened copy overall. Literary magazine and review wh…ich was publishedon the 1st and 16th day of each month. This issue features a book review round up by French novelist and playwright Rachilde, scandalous for both the liberating way she lived her life and her erotic, gender-bending novel Monsieur Venus. Rachilde often appeared in the pages of the Mercure de France(she was married to editor Alfred Vallette for a time). Her notoriety lent some popularity to the periodical.
