Reprinted from the London edition as noted by the editor. Between 1840 and 1849, publisher J. Winchester and editor Park Benjamin, a poet and writer in his own right, issued popular books of the day in a cheap, inexpensive format as "extras" to their New World magazine. The titles published were often first American editions as New World reportedly printed through the night after getting copies of books by meeting ships from Europe at the ports of call. Books at the time were not protected by international copyright. Very scarce.
