We have been able to locate just one example which had the "suppressed plate" (unsold at Alde's Auctions, Paris, in 2011. "Rare first edition of this famous book with the plates by Phiz (H.K. Browne). It first appeared, without illustrations, in the form of short stories distributed through Vol. I to Vol. VII of the "New Sporting Magazine."
