She was 96 years old and lived in Westport, Conn. Dr: Alsop wrote seven books including, "Deer Creek" in 1947, a book about her childhood in Pennsylvania, and "April in the Branches," about her interest in the outdoors. She was born in Allegheny County, Pa., but grew up in Brooklyn Heights, where her father, the Rev. Reese Fell Alsop, was rector of St. Ann's Church. She graduated from Barnard College in 1903 and from the Women's Medical College in Pennsylvania in 1908. She became a medical missionary in China and a resident physician at St. Elizabeth's Hospital for Women and Children in Shanghai.
