Cost of production per kg was Rs.7.49 and the net return per kg was Rs. 7.62.The total post-ha…rvest losses in small onion cultivation were 7.63 Kg./Q.The effect of climate changes in small onion production was positively influenced by the rain fall and maximum temperature. Planting material, nitrogen, phosphorus, potash, plant protection and irrigation contributed significant influence on yield of small onion. Mean technical efficiency of small onion cultivation was 96.20 per cent in Constant Returns To Scale and 97.10 in Variable Returns To Scale. Mean scale efficiency efficiency of aggregatum onion was 96.70. Marketing channel I was the efficient marketing channel which was due to better pricing mechanism, lesser price spread due to absence of intermediaries and better regulation. From the ARIMA (2,1,2) model, the forecasted value was high during the month of September with Rs. 3681.11 per quintal followed by the months of October and November.The major production constraints identified were non-availability of labour and higher wage rate. 132 pp. Englisch.

The gross and net income was coincided with the pollution intensity and also the fish catch was varied with pollution intensity. The resource use efficiency of total production and Sardinella longiceps and Rastrelliger kanagurta species revealed the differential influence of fuel cost, numbers of fishermen and maintenance cost and depreciation cost of boat. Technical efficiency of affected fishermen was revealed that mean technical efficiency and scale efficiency of the three categories was similar and was around 99 per cent even though the individual species analyses showed lesser technical efficiency. Hedonic model revealed that the house value was positively influenced by the household income, water quality, distance from sea and amenities. WTP was increased with pollution intensity. The estimated total consumer surplus for mangrove forest was Rs. 199.84 crores and for silver beach, the consumer surplus was Rs. 438.60 crores 152 pp. Englisch.

The results showed that the decline in crop production and in value of animal h…usbandry production were directly related with the pollution intensity. In seriously affected farms, the agricultural damage could be reduced by undertaking more of land averting expenditure and by improving both land quality index and dry season water quality index. The hedonic model showed that the farm income and distance between farm and sago factory had positive relationship with land value. The contingent valuation in seriously affected farms showed that the household head s education and household size had positive influence on willingness to pay. The analyses of best management practices revealed that the farmers could adopt combination of tolerant crops and practice dairy activity. The present study will help the farmers to analyze the causes and effects of sago pollution on crop production, income, soil fertility and health and also to formulate appropriate policy options to improve the standard of living of the affected parties. 244 pp. Englisch.

Sustainability analyses showed that irrigated agro ecological system was more sustainable as compare to rainfed agro ecological system in the triple front of ecology, economic viability and social acceptability. Livelihood security analyses showed that farmers in irrigated agro ecological system were much secure especially from economic, habitat and social network purview. The goals namely income , nitrogen, phosphorous, potash consumption goal and employment generation goal were achieved in the optimum farm plans.

The resource use efficiency of total production and Sardinella longiceps and Rastrelliger kanagurta species revealed the differential influence of fuel cost, numbers of fishermen and maintenance cost and depreciation cost of boat. Technical efficiency of affected fishermen was revealed that mean technical efficiency and scale efficiency of the three categories was similar and was around 99 per cent even though the individual species analyses showed lesser technical efficiency. Hedonic model revealed that the house value was positively influenced by the household income, water quality, distance from sea and amenities. WTP was increased with pollution intensity. The estimated total consumer surplus for mangrove forest was Rs. 199.84 crores and for silver beach, the consumer surplus was Rs. 438.60 crores.
