This collection includes two original billheads from Mebius & Drescher of Sacramento, California to Frank Kunsting of Franklin, California and one original letter from the company's predecessor, Mebius & Company, to the American Salt Company of San Francisco. The billheads show Kunsting bought five line items in total among which are "2 tins Durand Oil, "Olive [Oil]," "Wheatine," and "Pedro Tobo. [Tobacco?]." The letter to the American Salt Co. is brief and reads, in part, "Gentlemen, Please ship to us by [steamer?], [numerical specifications and abbreviations] Salt; Why have you not answered our last letter [?; last word partially cut off]; Yours truly, Mebius & Co." An inscription at bottom may indicate American Salt Co. did eventually answer on September 7. The printed header at the top of the letter reads, "Mebius & Co., Importers and Wholesale Grocers. Exporters of California Hops.".
